Today I photographed this stone. It has the following text:
Erected
in fond
remembrance of
Ann Anderson
wife of
Samuel E Johnston
who died at Dovecot, Romano
the 26th Dec 1876
aged 53 years
exemplar as a wife
devoted as a mother
dutiful as a daughter
beloved as a sister
faithful as a friend
Also the above Samuel E. Johnston
who died at the Inch, Liberton
4th Aug 1908, aged 85 years.
It did make me wonder what I could mean to be called Examplar as a Wife? What does it take to achieve this?!
